PUCCINI DVORAK FESTIVAL 2024

For the first time since the first edition of our monographic festivals, this 2024 we will have two protagonists: Giacomo Puccini and Antonin Dvorak

Following the tradition of commemorating important anniversaries in the musical world, this year is the 100th anniversary of the death of one of the greatest opera composers of all time, Giacomo Puccini, and also the 120th anniversary of the death of the Czech composer greatest of all time, Antonin Dvorak.

Giacomo Puccini and his operas opened a new musical and operatic scene in Europe assuming the birth of Italian verism, an aesthetic current that sought to portray the real world and close to the public avoiding the fantastic and mythological stories that were so implausible to the public of the nineteenth century On the other hand, Antonin Dvorak, composer also of late romanticism and author of universally known works such as the Symphony of the New World, was also a before and after in the treatment of folk music within the orchestral world, making melodies and rhythms of popular music a basis on which to build their language.
